Help Increase Lung Cancer Survivorship!
My father, Hubert Parks, was diagnosed with lung cancer in September of 2008, passing away in March of 2010. Then, when my maternal great aunt had an ongoing pain in her upper arm, we never imagined she would pass from lung cancer in January of 2015. Now, we must make sure others don't face the pain and suffering that my loved ones endured and many others face daily from the leading cancer-killer of all Americans.
Please help change the current facts for those affected by lung cancer. Simply take a moment to join the fun in supporting the Triad LUNGe Forward 5K Run, Walk and Celebration, coming up September 18, 2021, for the Lung Cancer Initiative. Together, we can truly make a difference, but it takes a little bit from each of us to meet the lofty goals necessary for really changing the facts...

The Lung Cancer Initiative specializes in connecting patients, survivors and loved ones with the medical and research community across North Carolina. On September 18th, we'll come together to remember those lost and celebrate all survivors, including veterans who are impacted at a higher rate by this disease. We will raise funds to advance survivorship via lung cancer research, education and access programs. We are excited that survivorship has increased such that 21% of those diagnosed with lung cancer live 5 years or longer, but, together, we know there is much more we can do.
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."
- Margaret Mead
